TATRA 815, PARIS - DAKAR 1998

This tin TATRA T 815 expands our range of popular Dakar TATRAs. In 1998 the race started in Paris again, after 4 year's break. The organizers did not spare the starting competitors and selected the most difficult stages from previous years and added some other, also very demanding ones. The Czech TATRA MARATHON TEAM started with three trucks. One of them is this one, which boasts starting number 419, crew: Sklenovský, Hamerla, Tomeček.

This trio carried all the technical equipment and basically drove as an assistance vehicle. Even so, the competitors did great and held an excellent 6th place. Unfortunately, only until the unlucky 9th stage, when the crew was ambushed by armed robbers who stole the Tatra and escaped with it. The crew thus had to say goodbye to the rest of the race unintentionally and through no fault of their own.
